How did he propose?

It was an early Saturday morning, Chris and Amanda were ready to host a surprise birthday party for Amanda’s mom that they had prepared for all week. Little did Amanda know that Chris had been doing some planning of his own. Later that morning, Chris suggested that they go for a run since it was great running weather and they were all prepped for the party.

During the week, Chris had coordinated with both families to meet in the parking lot that morning and hide at the pier of their apartment when they left for their run. If all went as planned, the surprise birthday party was about to become a surprise engagement party!

Chris packed a long distance running pack, which of course seemed odd to Amanda since they were going out for a few miles. Chris added to the awkwardness, by sprinting sideways, right from the start of their jog. He was simultaneously trying to hide the bulge on his back (the ring), and block her view of their parents’ cars in the parking lot. This resulted in something that looked more like a soccer drill in agility, rather than a Saturday morning jog.

At the end of their 4 mile run, Chris suggested they finish at the end of the pier by their apartment. As they closed in on the pier, Chris began to tell Amanda how much she has meant to him, how she changed his life, and how much he loved her for her. Amanda responded, “Why are you acting so weird today?”

As Chris and Amanda got to the end of the pier, looking at the NYC skyline together, Chris took a moment, dropped down onto one knee and popped the question! With little hesitation Amanda jumped into his arms…. and of course, she said Yes!

Both of their families came running out from the corner, with flowers, cameras, tears, and smiles. This was the most magical day of their lives.
