“I knew that I wanted to do a boudoir shoot as a gift to my husband for our wedding. What I didn’t realize is that it really turned out to be more of a gift for myself! I found Anya through Instagram and immediately fell in love with her style. Her photos are gorgeous! I will say that about a week before my shoot I had cold feet, wanted to cancel. I have always been self conscious especially about my body and I thought I must be crazy for doing this. Anya called me and calmed my fears. She helped every step of the way- from the very beginning in coming up with some outfit ideas to the day of the shoot in helping calm my nerves and giving me confidence. And in the end it was really FUN! When I saw my photos I was stunned- Anya captured me in a way that I don’t normally see myself, it was still just me, but I felt beautiful. The experience was worth every penny and the confidence it gave me is invaluable. And to say my husband was thrilled with the photos is an understatement! Thank you Anya!” – Miss D.

Adding a simple element of clothing to a boudoir shoot can really spice up your photos.  You can bring a sweater, a button down shirt or a jean jacket.  Even a pair of sunglasses can be used as a fun prop to add a cool element to your shoot.  If you love to bake, bring a rolling pin and some flour. We will chat about your outfits before your session and I want to come up with fun ideas for yours.

“Anya was AMAZING. She puts so much thought into her work and truly is a professional and an artist. I went into my session nervous and left feeling so empowered. When I saw my photos, I cried. She made this whole experience incredible. I will never forget how comfortable and beautiful she made me feel. Thank you Anya! I will treasure these photos for my whole life!” – Miss C.

“To say this was a GREAT experience would be an understatement! From the moment you enter her studio, Anya makes you feel like a QUEEN. From the hair and makeup to the champagne… it was a dream! A shoot like this is something that can be super uncomfortable if you haven’t done it before, but she has a way of making you feel really at ease. She was great to work with, provided clear direction and brought my vision to life beautifully. Not to mention the book I got for my husband is something I will cherish forever! I can’t recommend her enough for the Boudoir shoots, and I hope to one day do a maternity shoot with her as well!” – Miss. X

“I was looking for the perfect wedding gift and WOW. This was beyond what I could of imagined. Anya made it easy and comfortable. Any concerns I had she put them at ease. The shoot was so fun and energizing. It turned more into a gift for myself than my husband. I will do this again for sure and loved working with Anya. My husband very much enjoyed the album.” – Miss D.

When planning for a boudoir photo session it can be challenging to come up with all of your outfit ideas by yourself.  Communication with your photographer is key prior to the session.  I will give you suggestions on our first phone call, after which I will create a private Pinterest board that will be the key to helping you communicate what you are aiming for.

There is a plethora of boudoir images on Pinterest that could inspire you and help prepare for your session.  You can simply type in things like “boudoir wardrobe ideas, boudoir posing ideas, couples boudoir poses, boudoir accessory ideas” and you will instantly have PLENTY of images to just scroll through all in one spot. See something that fits your style, taste or personality? Simply save the images or links and I will see them on your board. This will give me a general idea of what you are aiming for, as well as the type of poses you will be comfortable with.

If you feel you are having a hard time communicating exactly what you are looking for with this experience, or if you may even be unsure yourself because it something new to you, Pinterest would be a great place to start!

“What an experience!  Anya was made to do this for a career. I came to her for my wedding boudoir photo shoot & I honestly had no idea what to expect. I spent the weeks leading up to the appointment scrambling to find outfits, feeling insecure & doubting that my photos will come out anything like the ones I saw on her website. LADIES, I AM HERE TO TELL YOU… DO IT! During the photoshoot Anya made me feel beyond comfortable & CONFIDENT. When I saw my photos, I started to cry.. it was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life.” – Miss. A

“From the first phone call with Anya I was immediately put at ease! I have never been the most confident person, so doing something like this made me very nervous. Through the whole experience Anya was super fun and made me feel so comfortable. I originally decided to do it as a gift for my fiancé, but once I did the shoot I realized it was more of a gift to myself! After we reviewed my photos I was overwhelmed with emotions. I felt so beautiful and confident! I would highly recommend booking with Anya!” – Miss. J

H2O: Plenty of water in the days leading up to your shoot will leave your skin with a healthy, happy, glow. Try to avoid things that will dehydrate your skin like coffee and alcohol.

Self-Care:  I recommend doing a body scrub the night before your shoot.  Moisturize your skin, get plenty of sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Doing these things as part of your morning routine will make you feel ready to tackle anything, even your boudoir shoot.

Haircuts and Waxing:  In the week leading up to your appointment make sure you do all the things that make you feel the most confident about your appearance. If you like a fresh haircut, a root touch up, or an eyebrow wax be sure to schedule these things about a week before your photo shoot. This gives you time to adjust any inconsistencies or mistakes in your hair cut before the big day. If you’re planning to have any other waxing done, make sure you do this several days before your shoot to eliminate any lingering redness.

I know you don’t believe me.  But your body is beautiful. It’s a thing to be celebrated.  You have been through so much with your body.  It brought you to this point.  Even is it’s not what you consider ideal, it really is a beautiful vessel.  It’s taken you on trips, it’s brought you through sorrow, it walked you down the aisle at your wedding, it bore your children, it keeps you alive.  It’s worth celebrating exactly as it is.
