“I wouldn’t know what to do.”

“I’m not confident enough.”

“I’m not photogenic.”

“Maybe I’ll do it after I lose twenty pounds.”

If any of those thoughts sound familiar, I want you to know something.

Almost every woman who walks into my studio has had those exact same thoughts.

Not some of them.

Almost all of them.

I’ve photographed more than 700 women over the years. Brides. Mothers. Women celebrating milestone birthdays. Women rebuilding after divorce. Women recovering from illness. Women who simply woke up one day and realized they had spent years taking care of everyone except themselves.

Very few of them walked through my doors feeling fearless.

Most walked in feeling exactly like you might feel right now.

Curious.

Excited.

Terrified.

So instead of telling you what happens during a boudoir session, I want to walk you through what it actually feels like.

Because they’re two very different things.

It Usually Starts Long Before You Ever Walk Through My Door

For many women, a boudoir session doesn’t begin on the day of the photoshoot.

It begins weeks.

Sometimes months.

Sometimes even years earlier.

It starts with a quiet thought.

“I’ve always wanted to do this.”

Then life gets busy.

The kids need you.

Work needs you.

Your partner needs you.

There always seems to be a better time.

A better body.

A better reason.

Until one day you realize you’ve been waiting for permission that no one is ever going to give you.

That’s usually when you reach out.

Not because you suddenly became confident.

Because you’re tired of waiting.

The Night Before

The night before your session can feel a little emotional.

You’re folding lingerie.

Packing jewelry.

Checking your bag three different times.

Maybe you’re texting your best friend.

“I think I’m actually doing this.”

Then the questions start.

“What if I look awkward?”

“What if she realizes I’m not photogenic?”

“What if every woman she’s photographed looked better than me?”

I wish I could sit beside every client the night before her session and tell her something.

You’re not the exception.

You’re the rule.

These thoughts are so normal that if you didn’t have them, I’d probably be surprised.

The Drive to the Studio

This is probably the moment when the nerves are strongest.

Some women tell me they almost canceled.

Some say they nearly turned the car around.

Some sit in the parking lot for ten minutes trying to convince themselves to walk inside.

If that ends up being you one day…

Take a deep breath.

Then come in anyway.

Because almost every woman who has ever admitted that to me has also told me something else later.

“I’m so glad I didn’t leave.”

The Door Opens

And Something Unexpected Happens.

This is the moment where expectations usually change.

People often imagine a photography studio as bright lights, intimidating cameras, and someone immediately telling them to pose.

That isn’t what happens here.

You walk in.

I greet you.

We chat.

You settle in.

You start realizing…

This doesn’t feel like a photoshoot.

It feels like visiting someone who’s been expecting you.

That’s intentional.

I never want my clients to feel rushed.

I want you to feel cared for.

Because the way you feel matters far more than the camera sitting in the room.

Then Comes Hair and Makeup

This might be one of my favorite parts of the day.

Not because of the makeup.

Because of what happens while you’re sitting in that chair.

You start relaxing.

We laugh.

We talk about life.

Your family.

Your wedding.

Your kids.

Your career.

Sometimes we sit quietly.

Sometimes we laugh so hard we cry.

The makeup isn’t about transforming you into someone else.

It’s about helping you slow down long enough to remember the woman who’s been there all along.

Even before a single photograph is taken, something has already begun to change.

Your shoulders aren’t quite as tense.

Your breathing feels a little easier.

You’re starting to trust me.

More importantly, you’re starting to trust yourself.

And that’s where the real experience begins.
